Unit Literacy Group (ULG)
is dedicated to promoting wellness and recovery through literacy. We facilitate Book Clubs, Tutoring Groups and Creative Writing Sessions within the Pennsylvania DOC with help from supporters nationwide. Anyone who shares the lived experience of challenges with mental health or wants to promote mental wellness and recovery will be interested our mission.

WHO RUNS INMATE CREATE?
InmateCreate.com is operated by a network of FAMILY, FRIENDS & SUPPORTERS of incarcerated people. Our loved ones have made wrong choices in the past, but those actions do not define their humanity. We are focused on SUPPORTING POSITIVE CHANGE in the lives of all incarcerated people. We believe that by encouraging HEALTHY CREATIVITY, we are supporting rehabilitation, recovery and redemption for those who turn away from what’s wrong and choose to do what’s right.
WHO CREATES THE DESIGNS?
Every designer featured on InmateCreate.com is currently incarcerated in state prison. They have all made bad choices in the past but are seeking a better future by channelling creativity into positive endeavours.
WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?
The proceeds from each product are split in a profit-sharing agreement between the designer of that product and InmateCreate. A portion of all profit is donated to the Pennsylvania Prison Society, the nation’s first and longest-running organization dedicated to humane treatment of incarcerated people.
WHAT IF MY PRODUCT DOESN’T FIT?
At this point, we are unable to offer refunds or exchanges.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY ORDER?
You can expect delivery via USPS about 7-10 days after your order is processed.
WHERE ARE THE PRODUCTS PRINTED?
InmateCreate works with a third-party printing company based in the United States.
WHY ARE THERE NO FULL NAMES LISTED FOR THE DESIGNERS?
Anonymity is a key value of InmateCreate for 3 key reasons:
- We want the designs to speak for themselves rather than focusing on personalities.
- Anonymity insulates our designers from backlash by people who want to judge them based on their worst moments in life rather than the positive actions they are taking today.
- Creating a barrier between customers and designers ensures that both can benefit from each other without concerns for unwanted contact. InmateCreate will NEVER share customer info with designers OR designer names with customers
